These mineral-rich volcanic soils help the vines produce grapes that are rich in both complex minerals and a fine acidity. The signature Piqueras Black Label is produced in the region of Almansa, located on high slopes in southeast Spain. Dry and calcareous soil, scarce rain and long periods of sunshine produce grapes with high concentration, deep colour and full of rich aromas. This rich red is made from 50% Monastrell and 50% Syrah and aged for 4-6 months in 300 litre fine grain oak barrels. Medium-bodied on the palate with flavours of ripe red cherries, raspberries, crushed boysenberries, red plums and a touch of vanilla spice on the nose. Lively and elegant with a silky finish. Enjoy on its own or with grilled, roasted or fried dishes, barbecues, charcuterie and richer cheeses.
